Before You Arrive

Complete the following items prior to arriving on August 5th. Keep checking this page, as more tasks will be added to this list as they become available. Note that some items have due dates by Friday, July 19th.


  • MedScope accounts are now active!
  1. Link University/SOM Account
    Link your University Account to your SOM Account. An email with information to link has been sent by SOM IS. This is your first task.
  2. Login to your SOM email. (Supported mobile devices)
  3. Login to SURFS and add/update your contact info.
    Include a home email address, emergency contact info, phone number, and both permanent and mailing addresses (even if they are the same).
  4. Photo & Name Recording: Due Friday, July 19th
    Complete the Photo and Name Recording Form. Check here for photo requirements before accessing the form.
  5. White Coat Ceremony Details [updated 7/12]
    Important registration/event details and deadlines for the August 9th White Coat Ceremony.
  6. Complete the AAMC MSQ: You will receive an email from AAMC with a link.
  7. FERPA: Due Friday, July 19th
    Choose a FERPA disclosure status in your MedScope student portfolio.
  8. HIPAA 125 Training NEW!
    Your username is your student ID in the form @00000000. You can find your SID on the Home tab of your MedScope portfolio. Your password is your first name. Please do not create a new account and contact MedScope with questions.
  9. OSHA Respirator Questionnaire [updated 7/12]
  10. ECHO 360 Audience Response: Due Monday, Aug 5 8am
    Set up Create an Echo360 Account account before Monday's sessions.

Student-run organizations and other university-sponsored information may be sent via this as well. Members of the faculty and school administration are on this listserv also, so please use professional etiquette.
