Are you interested in applying into a surgical specialty but don't know where to start? SIG is hosting our annual "How to Apply to a Surgical Specialty" event with UMMC General Surgery Program Director Dr. Stephen Kavic! His presentation will offer valuable preclinical/ clinical advice as well as provide helpful information about the ERAS application process and how to distinguish yourself as a competitive surgical applicant. The event will be held on Friday, December 12th from 12-1pm in Leadership Hall-- lunch will be provided. We hope to see you there!

Please join us Suture Series, Part VI!
This session will focus on reviewing previous techniques including: two-hand tying, one-hand tying, simple interrupted suture, deep dermal, and subcuticular. If you attended Session III and made a hand-tying board, please bring this with you!
Additionally, vascular grafts will be supplied, and Dr. Khanjan Nagarsheth will offer guidance on the techniques used for graft suturing!

The History of Medicine Interest Group and Muslim Student Association are excited to host Dr. Ahmad Ragab, MD, PhD at 12 pm in Hosick Lecture Hall for a talk on the History of Islamic Medicine. Dr. Ragab is a historian, physician, and filmmaker at the Department of the History of Medicine at Hopkins, focusing on the history of medicine in the premodern Middle East and the Islamic World as well as colonial and postcolonial medicine, science, and technology.
