MENINGES & CRANIAL FOSSAE
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1) Describe the relationships of the brain, the meninges and cranial nerves to bony landmarks and foramina in the base of the skull.
2) Describe the layers of the scalp, calvaria, and meninges.
3) Describe the pattern of the dural sinuses and blood vessels.
4) Describe the location and exit points of the cranial nerves.
5) Identify structures on the checklist.
DISSECTION GOALS
A) Remove the skin of the scalp to expose the calvaria of the skull.
B) Remove the skull calvaria.
C) Open the meninges and dural sinuses.
D) Remove the brain and expose the cranial nerve exits through the skull.
